Bethel Sunrise Service

Thank you for coming at such an early hour for this Sunrise Service. We are gathering in the "Wedding Chapel" on the banks of Bethel Pond, just down the road from the church building. It was at this site, 188 years ago, that a brush arbor meeting was held marking the beginning of Bethel's presence as a worshiping community. Easter Sunrise services have been held here yearly for almost 35 years. Normally, people come dressed casually but comfortably for the season (it has been quite chilly at times with a dampness in the air, though never raining that I can remember) joining in quiet conversation, anticipating the sunrise. For now, just settle in to remember that first Easter morning.
